Kombucha tea originated in East Asia and was introduced into Germany at the turn of the century. Since the early 19th century, Kombucha tea has been promoted as an immunity-boosting tea that can strengthen the body against many ailments. It became more widely used in the United States partly because it can be made at home.

Kombucha tea has been promoted as a cure-all for a wide range of conditions including baldness, insomnia, intestinal disorders, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, AIDS, and cancer. Supporters say that Kombucha tea can boost the immune system and reverse the aging process. Kombucha tea is said to contain antioxidants, compounds that block the action of free radicals (activated oxygen molecules that can damage cells). For people who have cancer, proponents claim the tea can improve the body's defenses (especially in the early stages of cancer) by detoxifying the body and enhancing the immune system. After the body has been detoxified, the tea is said to help repair and balance the body and fight off disease.

Try Kombucha Tea; you will like it!

Kombucha, fermented tea? Yes, fermented tea! Sound weird? Try it before you decide. You can purchase kombucha fermented tea commercially at your local health food store to try it. It is often flavored with different fruit but in it's raw form, it is pretty darn good by itself. Because of the expensive nature of the commercial product, we found it a better deal to brew it ourselves!

Now there are a host of 'self brewing' videos and suppliers available if you just do a Google, but it can get involved and complicated. We like simple easy and cost effective! That is why we recommend that you get a deluxe 'kit' from our friends at Get Kombucha. We use their continuous brewing methods and have had great success. It has paid for itself in just the first few weeks of use! We think it tastes better than commercial brand, but our ego's may be in the way <smile>.

Get Kombucha is a great source for your Kombucha brewing supplies and information!  Visit their web site, watch the videos (totally funny but SO informative and instructive!). Buy the deluxe kit!!!

Wikipedia Definition:

Kombucha is a fermented tea that is often drunk for medicinal purposes. There is limited scientific information supporting any health benefit and few studies are being conducted, although there are several centuries of anecdotal accounts supporting some of the health benefits attributed to the tea. Kombucha is available commercially and can be made at home by fermenting tea using a visible, solid mass of yeast and bacteria which forms the kombucha culture which is often referred to as the "mushroom" or the "mother".
